Kun Shan University implements the directives of the New Southbound government policy for industrial development and has actively applied for the New Southbound International Program of Industry-Academia Collaboration. Because Chinese Mandarin language ability is extremely important, KSU opened the Remedial Course for TOCFL-Chinese Proficiency Certificate to motivate students to participate in Chinese Mandarin language testing. (TOCFL=Test of Chinese as a Foreign Language) Since this February a total of 160 students passed the test for a 90% pass rate; not easy! KSU also compiled funding and verified Level 2 and higher students who will then be able to apply for scholarships.
KSU actively encourages New Southbound International Programs of Industry-Academia Collaboration class students to participate in Mandarin Language testing. KSU Office of New Southbound Project’s Project Director Tony Feng said that the students who participate in testing not only can improve their Mandarin language ability but they also will have the added advantage of being well-prepared for doing off-campus internships in the future.
